IO-Link is a point-to-point protocol, compatible with most industrial fieldbuses, which makes it easily integrable into existing systems. Data transmission, based on a 24V signal, is immune to external interference. The IO-Link protocol ensures: • Accurate data transmission • Easy integration into systems • Automated configuration in case of device replacement • Reduced wiring Multiturn with IO-Link interface, 010 mm solid shaft, round flange ► PROGRAMMING & SETTING O-Link communication is bidirectional (reading and writing), thus allowing the transmission of both cyclic (process) and acyclic data (parameters, error messages, warning, notifications). The IO-Link network consists of an IO-Link Master, IO-Link device and cable (unshielded, up to 20 metres long), with a standardized connector (M12 for MEM40B encoder). Both communication and power are passed through the cable, therefore wiring is very simple. The IO-Link Master and IO-Link devices can be easily configured by means of the Port Configuration Tool: the software identifies the devices connected to the Master and automatically downloads the description files (IODDs) from the online database www.ioddfinder.com. IO-Link features the automated configuration; a function of the IO-Link master that stores all parameters of connected devices: in case of encoder replacement, the master reconfigures the device automatically, making maintainance operations easier.
