YSI IQ SensorNet VisoTurb® Total Suspended Solids & Turbidity Sensor The VisoTurb is an optical based turbidity or TSS (total suspended solids) sensor for the IQ SensorNet process monitoring and control system. At the effluent of a wastewater treatment plant, turbidity is a quantitative measure of any remaining undissolved solids that can help indicate problems during the treatment process. Turbidity can be measured relatively simple online with optical methodology. This is why turbidity is extremely suitable for measuring the cleaning efficiency of wastewater treatment plants. Parameters: Total Suspended Solids Turbidity Temperature • Factory Calibration The VisoTurb sensors are precisely factory calibrated for two different types of sludge (activated and primary). The calibration is extremely stable and there is no need to calibrate on-site. A matrix adjustment is possible as needed. A 1-point or multipoint calibration is possible if sludge size, structure or coloration variations need to be taken into account. • UltraClean Ultrasonic Cleaning The ultrasound source is integrated in the sensor and generates high-frequency vibrations of the optical windows. Ultrasonic cleaning prevents biofouling resulting in maintenance free operation with accurate measurements everytime. • Measurement Principle Utilizes two measurement methods depending on TSS concentrations - either backscatter for higher concentrations or scattered light for lower concentrations.
