Introduction
Phycomp has introduced a new multilayer ceramic antenna designed for Bluetooth and WLAN applications. This innovative product is characterized by its compact size and high performance, making it one of the smallest broadband antennas available.

Specifications
The antenna measures 7.3 x 5.5 x 1.4 mm and weighs 0.16 g. It offers a high gain of 1.2 dBi and a broad bandwidth of 100 MHz to 140 MHz within the 2.4 GHz ISM band. The design leverages advanced computer-aided RF tools and Phycomp's expertise in MLCC and R-chip manufacturing.

Applications
Primarily developed for Bluetooth applications, the antenna supports wireless communication in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. It is suitable for various devices, including laptops, cellular phones, and printers, facilitating wireless connectivity. Additionally, it can be used for Wireless LAN data communication.

Production and Design
Phycomp began mass production of the antenna in late 2000, with the capability to expand production within 4 to 6 weeks. The antenna can be mounted directly on a PC board, eliminating the need for expensive RF connectors and coaxial cables. It supports a broad bandwidth and standard 50 Ω impedance matching, simplifying design and reducing signal loss.

Environmental Considerations
The antenna is designed with environmental sustainability in mind, using low-dielectric materials and a water-based, non-toxic production process. It features lead-free terminations and is manufactured using low-temperature co-fired ceramic technology, reducing energy consumption.

Future Innovations
Phycomp plans to continue developing internal antenna solutions for other telecommunications markets, including GPS and dual-band GSM antennas.
