Introduction EN 50014 requires checking the maximum surface temperature during operation of Ex products. According to the results, electrical equipment is classified into temperature classes. This classification informs about possible areas of use of electrical equipment because the maximum surface temperature always has to be lower than the ignition temperature of the gas or vapor mixture.
