It features a wide voltage input range from 10 to 50 volts DC. This allows the unit to operate with 12, 24, or 48 volt battery or distributed DC power systems. It opens up a wide array of applications including Mil/COTS, transportation, security, solar-powered, and telecommunications. The design is based upon a synchronous, two-phase buck converter to give it up to 95% efficiency depending upon input voltage. It has fast transient time and low ripple on the +5V output. The output is short circuit protected and current limited. Also, the +5V does not need a minimum load to regulate. When power is applied to the board and +5V present, a red LED will illuminate providing a visual status that power is available and the unit is operational. The PCM-DC-AT500 is designed to operate at extended temperatures without forced air cooling or heatsink. This maximizes reliability and reduces weight for the module and the system it powers. The board is populated with soldered down, surface mount components which keep the overall height of the board low. Input Connector - A Phoenix® Combicon connector allows power to be easily and securely brought to the board with a quick way to remove it if necessary. The mating connector is shipped with each standard board. PC/104 Connector - Both +5V and ground are wired directly to multiple pins on the PC/104 connector. Traces are also run to the pads for the PCI-104 connector which is not populated on the standard model of the PCM-DC-AT500. Fanless - No fans or heatsinks are required to...
