V series Brochure

Product catalog summary
Overview
The document outlines the technical specifications and operational guidelines for Dual Seal Plunger metering pumps, compliant with API 675 standards, ensuring high-quality fluid metering.
Operating Cycle
The pump operates through a power stroke and a suction stroke. The power stroke involves the piston-plunger assembly displacing fluid and compressing the return spring, closing the suction check valve and opening the discharge check valve for fluid discharge. The suction stroke allows the fluid chamber to refill as the return spring retracts the assembly.
Design and Features
The pump includes a compact stroke adjuster, TFE composite bearings for smooth operation, a double sealing arrangement, and TFE composite seats for check valves. It also features a threaded port for seal leakage indication and uses synthetic grease for lubrication.
Materials
Wetted parts are made from 316 stainless steel, with specific materials for the plunger and seals. The pneumatic section features an anodized aluminum controller.
Performance Specifications
Guidelines emphasize considering future flow requirements and using appropriate filtration. Pumps are designed for flooded suction conditions, not recommended for suction lift conditions. Regulated air/gas supply and a pump setting gauge are crucial for flow adjustment.
Graphical Data
Performance graphs assist in determining flow capability and air pressure requirements, providing examples for pump selection and adjustment.
Control Methods
The MK XIIA Oscillamatic® Controller and solenoid valves automate pump operations, managing air/gas supply with flexible diaphragms and capillary tubes. Solenoid valves automate output based on flowmeter or pH meter signals.
Installation and Material Selection
Installation guidelines and plunger material selection are based on hardness and chemical compatibility, emphasizing the right material choice for longer plunger and seal life.
Material Specifications
Ceramic is recommended for hardness and chemical inertness. Stainless steels like 17-4 PH and 316 SS offer general corrosion resistance but limited acid resistance.
Seal Material Selection
Materials are chosen for wear resistance and chemical compatibility, with tough materials for high pressures and softer materials for low-pressure applications.
Seal Material Types and Specifications
  • TG Mechanical: -30 to 180°F, 3,000 to 10,000 psi

DUAL SEAL PLUNGER S SIMPLICITY IN DESIGN, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE PUMP FEATURES: 1 Stroke Adjuster is made more compact and adjustment is simplified with an internally threaded design. The positive locking device to hold stroke length is readily accessible and easy to operate. The Pneumatic Piston and Fluid Plunger Assembly is guided at both ends on TFE composite bearings ensuring concentric movement of the plunger through the seals. The clearance between the return spring and plunger has been optimized to eliminate any possible contact. A true double sealing arrangement is used so that secondary...

PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS* * This data should only be used to provide you with your initial size selection. You must refer to the actual performance graphs on pages 6 and 7 in order to verify your pump selection. PLUNGER PUMP SELECTION GUIDELINES PLEASE NOTE: OUR PLUNGER PUMPS HAVE PRESSURE-ACTIVATED SEALS. THEY SHOULD BE USED AT PRESSURES WHICH MATCH THE SEAL SELECTION. STROKE RATE AND LENGTH Even though the pumps are designed to operate over their entire stroke rate and length ranges, we suggest that you take into consideration your future flow requirements. Rather than operating at the flow...

A) Use The Following Performance Flow Curves* in Order To: 1) Determine the flow capability of the pump you have selected. If you have sized the pump too close to the upper or lower stroke rate limit, you may wish to change to a different pump size. Of course you can also change your flow for a given stroke rate by adjusting the stroke length. Example: *Metric flow performance curves are available on request.

PLUNGER MATERIAL SELECTION The materials available vary in hardness and chemical compatibility. We offer three materials based on our many years of industry experience with various chemicals. Hardness is a key property when selecting the proper plunger material. Our experience has shown that the harder plunger materials not only provide longer plunger life, they also provide greater seal life. A hard plunger is a must when pumping a chemical that is prone to crystallization or if the chemical is contaminated. Of course both of the above conditions will affect seal life. Below is a table that...
