Product catalog summary
Overview
The APU SERIES AUTOMATIC PROCESSING UNIT is engineered to automate pneumatic metering pumps by utilizing a linear 4-20 mA signal from a process flow meter. This signal controls a pneumatic metering pump to operate proportionally to the input signal through a normally closed, 3-way solenoid valve connected to an air or gas supply. The solenoid valve is pulsed to cycle the pump on and off, adjusting the chemical injection rate in direct proportion to the process signal.

Features
  • Economic Automation: Cost-effective solution for automating pneumatic metering pumps.
  • Explosion Proof: Certified for Class I, Groups B, C, D; Class II, Groups E, F, G; Class III; and CENELEC: EExd IIC, IP66.
  • Weatherproof Enclosure: Compliant with NEMA 4, 7BCD, 9EFG standards.
  • Corrosion Resistant: Features a powder-coated finish for durability.
  • Proportional Output: Provides pulse rate output proportional to the process signal, reducing chemical usage.
  • Compact Design: Suitable for offshore and plant installations with exterior mounting lugs for easy installation.

Ordering Information
The part number for ordering is structured as follows: APU - XP - 120 - QE - ATEX. The components include:
  • Basic Series: APU - XP
  • Power Supply Options: 12VDC, 24VDC, 120VAC, 220VAC
  • Solenoid Valve Options: QE (Quick Exhaust), ST (Standard), NR (Not Required)
The Quick Exhaust (QE) option is recommended for applications requiring the maximum number of strokes on larger pumps.

Automatic Processing Unit Automatic Processing Unit The APU SERIES AUTOMATIC PROCESSING UNIT is designed to pneumatic metering pumps. The APU accepts a linear 4-20 mA signal a process flow meter and operates a pneumatic metering pump operate proportional to the input signal. This is accomplished by the use of a normally closed, 3-way Economic Automation solenoid valve connected to air or gas supply. The APU pulses the 3-way solenoid valve which is connected to the pneumatic pump. The solenoid is cycled “on and off” to operate the pump. As the process signal increases or decreases, the pump cycles in direct proportion. Thereby increasing or decreasing the amount of chemical injected.
