Altra Steady Series

Altra Steady Series

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document introduces the Altra Steady and Altra Steady Plus series, which are designed for dancer control and electric brakes. These systems utilize adjustable Proportional (P), Integral (I), and Derivative (D) terms for control.

Specifications
  • Power Supply: 110-220 VAC selectable.
  • Output Current Capability: Maximum 2, 5 Amps, short circuit protected.
  • Output Voltage: 0-24 VDC for Altra Steady, 0-10 V for Altra Steady Plus, compatible with all Wichita electric brakes.
  • Housing: Metal rugged housing.

Control Features
  • Loop Gain: Adjustable via front face potentiometers. The Altra Steady has two adjustable range selections, while the Altra Steady Plus offers four.
  • Offset Torque: Adjustable via front face potentiometer.
  • Drift Stop Function: Releases the Integral term as soon as the machine runs to ensure proper operation.

Limitations
The use of fixed PID terms limits the systems in terms of roll diameter ratio. An input is provided to change the loop gain when the diameter ratio exceeds 8 to 10.

Accessories and Compatibility
The systems are compatible with dancer arms and load cells for feedback. Wichita can supply sensors and other accessories for easy mounting.

Technical Characteristics
The document provides technical characteristics valid for three executions of both Altra Steady and Altra Steady Plus, emphasizing their analogue control capabilities and compatibility with electric and pneumatic brake drivers.

Altra Steady Series-1

Altra Industrial Motion Altra Steady Series Altra Steady and Altra Steady Plus for electric brakes Altra Steady Altra Steady control is based on adjustable P, I, and D terms. The loop gain can be set on front face potentiometers. Switchable gain for large roll diameter ratio change. To ensure proper operation it is important to wire the function “Drift Stop”. This function releases the Integral term as soon as the machine runs. The Altra Steady is dedicated to Dancer Control and electric brakes only. Technical Information Altra Steady control is based on classical and fixed PID terms. The loop gain can be set on front face potentiometer. Due to the fixed PID terms, its use is limited in terms of roll diameter ratio. One input is provided to change the loop gain and has to be used when diameter ratio exceeds 8 to 10. To ensure proper operation it is important to wire the function “Drift Stop”. This function releases the Integral term as soon as the machine runs. Altra Steady Series-2

Altra Steady Series Analogue Control ALTRA STEADY PLUS Altra Steady Plus is an analogue 3 term (P, I, and D) controller which accepts both load cell and dancer as feedback. A 0 v - 10 v output to suit electric and pneumatic brake drivers is provided. The control is not provided with internal logic functions for splice. All connections are made by connector avoiding the risk of wiring errors. Wichita can supply the sensors and other accessories for easy mounting.
