Ethernet is the most common data communication standard used to-day. Westermo offers a wide product range, from unmanaged switches up to the fastest redundant ring switch on the market, regarding link recovery. Serial adapters, which make it possible to connect older equipment with a serial interface to an existing Ethernet network. We have both wireless solutions (WLAN) as well as products using SHDSL technique, that offers a high-speed connection on a copper cable. Our routers secure remote connection to an Ethernet network. Application This is a small windmill park with up to 7 towers. A fi ber optic star network is used from a centre to each tower. Either single or multimode cable is used depending on distances to the towers. A remote connection to the system is also possible, where the GSM modem provides the possibility to automatically send an SMS message in case of any link failure. > 4 x TX ISDNPSTN GSM Products U / R200-F7-MM-LC2SDW-541 / 532GDW-11ED-20 > 3 x TX SMS Alarm SerialFibre Ethernet > 6www.westermo.com size="-1">

Application In this installation all the towers are connected via a redundant fi ber optic ring. The R200 offers the possibility to have up to 200 switches in one ring. The R200 series is used because the installation requires three fi ber optic ports in each tower. To obtain higher reliability, all switches on ground level are supported with dual power supplies. Application This is an offshore instal-lation where seven towers are connected in two dif- ferent multidrop connec-tions. The tower furthest away is equipped with a camera directed back- wards towards the other towers for supervision. For effi cient use of band-width, all data concerning control of the towers is on VLAN 1 and the video data is on VLAN 2. In this installation copper cable is used for communication between the top and bottom of each tower. Bridge Link The backbone ring switches can be mounted in a cabinet and connec- tion between the switches is done with copper cables to create a redundant ring. The software is the same in all switches. The functionality is decided by confi guration of the switch to act either as a focal point or ring member and also in the sub rings to identify which ports should act as a primary and secondary connection to the backbone. Bridge Link Any failure in hardware (switches) or at any fi ber optic link will be seen as a single faultӔ and the data traffi c will be rerouted to the secondary switch/link.
