Features

The balance valve setting should be at least 1.3 times the load pressure.
Three-port vented valves are used to solve issues with non-vented valves, but they may leak over time. Four-port vented counterbalance valves are recommended for new applications.
Reseat pressure exceeds 85% of set pressure under standard settings. Lower settings may reduce reseat percentages.

Operation

The atmospherically vented counterbalance valve with pilot assist controls overrunning loads. It allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and controls flow from port 1 to port 2. Pilot assist at port 3 reduces the relief valve setting based on the pilot ratio. Backpressure at port 2 does not affect the valve setting due to atmospheric referencing.
