Midas S2 Axle Shaft OD Grinder A mid-west construction equipment manufacturing company again selects Weldon Solutions for grinding multiple diameters on various axle shafts. This is the first redesigned midas CNC grinder to be installed. The new machine features a Z-axis linear motor, increased Z-axis stroke, shear-damper base updates, dual front enclosure door system, & a new 5” stroke hydraulic tailstock with smart cylinder positioning & gear reducer for easy taper compensation. In this process, bearing journals on both ends of the axle & a seal surface are ground to size under gage control with vitrified CBN abrasives. Dressing is accomplished with an electric rotary dresser, monitored by a Dittel acoustic emissions sensor. System features: Weldon long stroke programmable tailstock, GII electric rotary dresser, Dittel acoustic emissions sensor, SBS automatic wheel balancer, FRB face driver & live tailstock center, Barnes coolant filtration system, CGI in-process sizing gage system, Superabrasives Inc. vitrified CBN grinding wheel, Consort rotary diamond dressing roll, & FANUC 32i BT CNC control.
