Information - Machining of fibre-reinforced composites with CVD diamond - 1

Information Machining of fibre-reinforced composites with CVD diamond CVD diamond is particularly well qualified to machine very abrasive fibre-reinforced plastics like CFRG and GRP as well as graphite or aluminium alloys >13% Si. Our product range includes ISO cutting inserts, turning tools and milling tools in CVD diamond. Depending on application and material, the insertion of chip breakers into CVD diamond can increase tool-life enormously and reduce machining costs dramatically. Cutting edges and chip breakers are processed by laser machining. Laser processed cutting edges are noticeably less rounded than ground cutting edges. Therefore, cutting pressure is lower and tool-life is significantly longer. The lower cutting pressure also makes it possible to produce more filigree parts with closer tolerances. Thus, it is now possible to manufacture such delicate parts.
