GF series

GF series

Product catalog summary
Specifications:
The GF series gear type flow meters are designed for precision measurement of medium to high viscosity hydraulic and lubrication fluids. They operate within a flow range of 0.1 to 150 lpm (0.03 to 40 US gpm) and can withstand pressures up to 420 bar (6000 psi). The meters offer output options of 4-20 mA and pulse, both linearized, and support bi-directional operation. Standard calibration is at 21 cSt, with special calibration available. The meters are constructed with stainless steel bodies, gears, and transducers.

Functional Specifications:
The meters operate in ambient temperatures of 5 to 40 °C (41 - 104 °F) and can handle fluid temperatures from -40 to 120 °C (41 - 194 °F). They are suitable for oils, fuels, water glycol, water oil emulsions, and phosphate esters, with a fluid viscosity range of 1 to 10000 cSt. Accuracy is maintained at 0.5% of the indicated reading for 15 to 100% of the range, with repeatability better than ±0.1%.

Electrical Specifications:
The supply voltage ranges from 13 to 30 VDC, with a current output of 2 wire loop and a maximum loop resistance of 800 ohms. The output frequency is galvanically isolated, and the response time is 48ms plus one period of detected frequency. Temperature stability is less than 100ppm/K.

Construction Material:
The flow body and adapters are made from DIN 1.4305 stainless steel, with high tensile steel assembly bolts. Internal parts include gears made from DIN 1.4122 stainless steel and bearings from DIN 1.4037 stainless steel. The transducer is made from DIN 1.4104 stainless steel, and seals are NBR (Nitrile), with other options available.

Operation:
The gear flow meters function as positive displacement devices, similar to a gear pump, with minimal clearance for high accuracy. The RPM of the gears is detected by a transducer, converting it into a 4-20mA or pulse signal proportional to flow. A CAN output is also available.

Model Specifications:
Various models are available with different flow ranges and pressure ratings, such as GF025-MAP-B-6 with a flow range of 0.1 to 25 lpm and pressure up to 420 bar, and GF150-MAP-S-6 with a flow range of 1 to 150 lpm and pressure up to 6000 psi.

Installation and Safety:
The meters require clamping hoses close to the meter and a recommended 50-micron filter in the circuit. They are suitable for hazardous environments, with ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 compatible devices available.

The GF series are positive displacement flow meters with a conditioned output, that are designed for measuring flows on hydraulic and lubrication systems, on test stands, machine tools and other fixed or mobile applications. The GF flow meters offer high accuracy and excellent viscosity stability and can be installed anywhere in the circuit for monitoring, production testing, commissioning, development testing and analysis of control systems. The compact design allows the GF series flow meters to be installed where space is limited. The GF gear type flow meters have a built-in micro-controller that linearises and conditions the signal from the flow meter to provide an accurate and linear output signal. This enables you to connect the flow meter directly into your digital display, PLC or custom DAQ system without having to worry about complex calibration factors or lookup tables.
