Product catalog summary
Technical Specifications:
The UBA series ultrasonic fork sensors are designed for edge control and web guidance systems, particularly effective with transparent foils and in contaminated air environments. They feature an analogue output of 0...10 V, high accuracy, temperature stability, and a high sampling rate. The sensors are available in different fork widths (30/60 mm and 40/70 mm) and operate at ultrasonic frequencies of approximately 180 kHz and 130 kHz, respectively. They have a working temperature range of 0...+60°C and a storage temperature range of -10...+70°C. The sensors are housed in black anodized aluminum and have an IP67 protection class.

Technical Drawing:
The document includes technical drawings for the UBA-AT-40/70-24-CU and UBA-AT-30/60-24-CU models, illustrating the sensor dimensions and configurations.

Description:
The UBA sensors are ultrasonic through-beam sensors with separate transmitters and receivers, suitable for edge detection on web guiding systems. They provide an analogue output signal based on the degree of coverage of the ultrasonic receiver. The sensors are less sensitive to dirt and dust compared to optical sensors and can handle transparent materials effectively. Air humidity and pressure can influence the output signal.

Teach-In & Fork Widths:
The teach-in function allows for the adjustment of the signal output at fully closed and fully open fork positions. This feature compensates for offsets caused by acoustically transparent materials. The output signal can be inverted, and a factory reset or key lock can be applied. Larger fork widths are beneficial for materials that do not pass consistently through the sensor.

Electrical Connection:
The sensors use an M12 connector with 4 poles. The connection cables are available in various lengths and configurations (straight or angular connectors). The pin configuration includes +24 V, synchronization/teach-in input, 0 V, and analogue output.

Order Code & Accessories:
The document provides order codes for different sensor models and lists available accessories, including connection cables with M12 connectors in various lengths and configurations.

Synchronization:
The internal sampling clock can be synchronized with an external signal, which is useful for applications involving multiple sensors measuring along a fast-moving web.

DESCRIPTION Advantages of ultrasonic fork sensors 1) The UBA ultrasonic transducers have a large diameter. Result: large measurement range combined with high linearity and resolution. 2) The signals are compensated with computed data as well as with a temperature sensor. Result: precise operation up to 60°C. 3) The sensors have the teach-in function. Result: They can be adapted to the actual air condition and the material. 4) Software and transducers are designed to eliminate the influence of multiple echoes. The UBA are ultrasonic through beam sensors with separated transmitter and receiver....

TEACH-IN Teach-In With the teach-in the signal output can be defined at fully closed fork (status A) as well as at fully open fork (status B). Status A: If there is an acoustically non transparent material in the fork, no signal is recorded by the receiver and thus the sensor shows 0 V. However if the material is partly acoustically transparent (e.g. textiles), the sensor would show an offset. By teaching this status the offset can be eliminated and the full 10V span is available. For teaching the status A the material must be fully introduced into the fork. Status B: If there is nothing between...
