Combined Branch Protection and Semiconductor Fusing

Product catalog summary
Overview: This document is a specification sheet for using DFJ fuses to protect branch circuits and solid-state power controllers, specifically Watlow's DIN-A-MITE® and EZ-ZONE® ST controllers. It outlines the benefits, features, and selection guidelines for these fuses.
Specifications: The DFJ fuses are recommended to meet national and local electrical code requirements for branch circuit protection. They are designed to protect personnel from injury and equipment from damage, especially in the event of a short circuit. The fuses are fast-acting and cover a range of amperage ratings suitable for the entire DIN-A-MITE and EZ-ZONE ST controller families.
Features and Benefits:
  • Combination of semiconductor and branch circuit protection fulfilling electrical code requirements.
  • Provides short circuit current rating (SCCR) protection up to 200kA for Watlow products.
  • Protects semiconductor-based power controllers from damage due to shorted heaters.
  • Simplifies cabinet design and reduces wiring time, components, and costs.
  • DIN-rail mount for easy installation.
  • Lockout/tagout feature for service personnel protection.
  • Open fuse indicator for quick troubleshooting.
Fuse Selection Guide:
  1. Select a fuse with an amperage rating at least 125% of the connected load or the next standard size above.
  2. Ensure the fuse's I2t rating does not exceed that of the solid-state power controller.
  3. Use Watlow recommended fuses for valid SCCR ratings, applicable up to 480VAC.
Fuse Specifications: The document provides a table listing fuse amp ratings, I2t values, Watlow part numbers, Bussman® equivalent part numbers, and holder dimensions. It includes specific details for fuses ranging from 20 to 100 amps.
Dimensional Drawings: The document includes dimensional drawings for fuse holders, specifying mounting details and dimensions for different amp ranges.
Contact Information: The document provides contact details for Watlow's technical sales offices in various countries, including the USA, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, and the UK.

Combined Branch Protection and Semiconductor Fusing-2

Fuse Selection Guide Use a DFJ fuse to protect both a branch circuit or power cable and the solid state power controller on the circuit with a single fuse. 1. elect a fuse with an amperage rating at least 125 percent of the connected load (or the next standard size above.) S 2. Select a fuse with an I2t rating not greater than the I2t rating of the solid state power controller. See the specification sheet for the power controller to be protected for I2t specification. See DFJ fuse I2t below. 3. se a Watlow recommended fuse. SCCR ratings for Watlow power controllers are only valid with Watlow...
