Flange or bearingmounted styles > The SFCSeries clutch couplingsemploy the same basic components as the SF design except for a splined hub andadapter which serves as acoupling for in-line shaft applications. The SF design eliminatescollector rings and brush- holder. Ideal for adverse environmental conditions. Mounting tolerances are generally more critical than the PC design. > Current is carried throughbrushes and the collector ringto the rotating magnet. The PC design is less expensive than the SF design. > The PCCSeries clutchcouplings employ the same basic components as the PC design...

Page 146 Page 188 Brake Primary style clutch/brake > The PB Series brakes consist of amagnet, armature and mounting hub in a very simple and extremely compact design. The PCBSeries clutch-brakescombine a PC clutch and a PB brake into one compact design. Application Application > A clutch-brake is used to combinethe functions of a clutch and a brake in a compact assembly. A brake is used when arotatingload is tobe stopped. Page 208 Motor Brake Stationary Field Clutch/BrakeCoupling > MB motor brakes arecomposed of a PB Series brake mounted on a NEMA C-face adapter and coverassembly. The...

The Autogap is a system designed toseparate the armature from the frictionface. This spacing is automatic and occurs prior to total magnetic decay, effectively eliminating noise by prevent-ing drag. The leaf springs which attach armature to hub pull the armatureback sharply when the coil is deenergized, providing positive disengagement. Wear, heat, and noise caused by dragging armatures are eliminated. > In Normal Duty units the autogap isincorporated as part of the drive pin assembly. In Heavy Duty units the autogap is incorporated as part of thearmature/splined hub assembly. The key...

Based on Load Inertia and Time The formula to use when calculatingclutch torque requirement based onmotor HP is:5,250 x HP x 2.75*T = ֖֖֖֖֖֖֖֖N What is the average torque required todecelerate a total load of 1.0 lb.ft. Example Based on Inertia and Time =308t WR > 2 NT > av Where: WR > 2 = inertial load in terms of lb.ft. > 2 referred to at the unit location.N = RPM t= time allowed for the engagement Tav = Average Torque (lb.ft.) This formula gives us the torque (T) andis the average amount of torque required to accelerate a part from rest to a rotation of N revolutions per minute, about its...

Torque and HorsepowerRelationship Example:FindTc: > When selecting clutches and brakesWarner Electric disregards efficiency or frictional losses in pulley, sprocket or gearing drive trains. Torque on a clutch or brake will be greater or lesser than the torque at the motor shaft based on the speed differencesbetween the motor shaft and the shaft where the clutch or brake is located. This is an inverse 1:1 relationship. A clutch at the slow speed side of a 10:1 ratio speed reduction will need to accelerate 10 times the torque as a clutch at the motor shaft. Conversely, a clutch at the high...

Warner Electric custom design brakesand clutches are economical to purchase and simple to install. They consist of components which must be assembled on the shaft and properly attached to the machine frame.Various customer furnished drivecomponents must be assembled with the brake or clutch. Pulleys, sprockets and bearings/pillow blocks for shafting may be essential elements of a complete drive system. Squareness andconcentricity tolerances are specified where critical to properclutch/brake functioning. The illustrations show SF, PC and PCBunits mounted with customer supplied bearing mounted...
