This new generation “GRP” is carried out in IGBT-technology, whose main characteristic is a three-phase input with almost sinusoidal power input. This new technology has the ability to save the user costs as well as material compared to traditionally thyristor-controlled DC power supplies. The power input experiences a significant optimization through active power factor correction (PFC). The „GRP“ has a power factor of almost “1”. Another major benefit in comparison to traditional thyristor technology is the significantly lower harmonic distortion; during the installation it enables the optimization of the wire crosssection as well as the safeguarding. When using this technology along with an IBGT-rectifier, the design of the rectifier machines can be much more compact in comparison to the traditional technology. Thanks to the optimized control dynamic, the DC power supply may be used as a charging rectifier as well as a supply rectifier. In conjunction with a battery and a power inverter, the DC power supply may be upgraded to a complete UPS- system or special UPS-system according to DIN VDE 0100-710. The PFC-rectifier is available in form of a supply rectifier (SR), charging rectifier (CR) or as an uninterrupted DC power supply with battery (DC-UPS). In general, rectifiers of this type are used for initial nominal voltages of 110V, 220V and 440VDC. They feature an additional input transformer for galvanic isolation and are set up at Rittal-cabinet-technology. A control and display panel allows for the simple operation and parameterization of the rectifier machine. An RS-232 interface is provided for the monitoring of the systems and allows for the optional connection to a MODBUS- or PROFIBUS-adapter. The power factor correction is carried out as a threephase boost converter in IGBT-bridge circuit and is therefore suitable for three-phase voltage systems.
