Product catalog summary
Introduction
The Phantom Flex4K-GS is a high-speed digital camera designed for demanding applications in science and aerospace. It features a custom 9.4 megapixel 4K sensor capable of capturing minute details with precision.

Key Features
  • Resolution and Frame Rates: Offers resolutions up to 4096 x 2304 with a maximum frame rate of 938 fps, and 4096 x 2160 at 1000 fps.
  • Shutter Modes: Switchable between global and rolling shutter modes to optimize for different scenarios.
  • Memory and Storage: Available with 64GB or 128GB RAM, supports Phantom CineMag IV and CineMag IV PRO with capacities of 1TB and 2TB.
  • Recording Formats: Supports Cine Raw and Apple ProRes 422 HQ formats.
  • Connectivity: Includes Gb Ethernet for PC connection and CineMag download via Gb or 10Gb Ethernet.

Benefits
The Flex4K-GS is built on award-winning Phantom technology, offering high pixel resolution for precise imaging. The global shutter mode ensures all pixels expose simultaneously, eliminating motion artifacts common in rolling shutter cameras.

Additional Features
  • Lens Mounts: Compatible with Nikon F, Canon EF, and 35mm PL-mount lenses.
  • Video Outputs: Includes 3G-SDI, dual-SDI, and component video outputs.
  • Audio: Supports AES/EBU audio recording.
  • Power: Provides outputs for on-camera monitors and accessories.

Sensor and Image Specifications
The camera uses a 12-bit CMOS sensor with 6.75 micron pixels. It supports both global and rolling shutter modes, with different ISO and dynamic range specifications for each.

Recording Options
The camera offers loop mode for high-speed recording into RAM and run/stop mode for longer recordings directly to CineMag IV. It supports various file formats and can convert Cine Raw files to other formats using PCC software.

Camera Control
The Flex4K-GS features an intuitive on-camera control interface and supports remote control via a handheld Phantom RCU. PCC software provides comprehensive control and file management capabilities.

Mechanical Design
The camera is designed to operate in extreme temperatures and features a sealed housing for stability and quiet operation. It is available in white or black housing.

Export Regulations
The camera is subject to U.S. export regulations, and certain transactions may require a license from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Support
Vision Research offers global support and service options to maximize the value of the Phantom camera.

The custom 9.4 megapixel 4K sensor resolves tiny details with clarity and precision beyond what is typically possible in high-speed imaging. The key difference between this camera model and the original Flex4K is the ability to run the sensor in global shutter mode, which ensures every pixel exposes at the same moment in time. While rolling shutter cameras typically achieve higher dynamic range and lower noise, the way the electronic shutter integrates can create motion artifacts, making high precision measurements difficult. The Flex4K-GS has the unique ability to switch between global and rolling shutter modes to take advantage of both scenarios and allow researchers to choose what is best for the subject at hand. 4096 x 2304 max fps 938 4096 x 2160 max fps 1000 2048 x 1080 max fps 1975 Global shutter, switchable to rolling shutter for increased dynamic range Minimum exposure: 5 ps Memory: 64GB or 128GB RAM Supports up to 63 partitions Recording media: Phantom CineMag® IV and CineMag IV PRO; available with 1TB and 2TB capacity. DATA SHEET when it’s too fast to see, and too important not to. Flex4K-GS Sensor and Image Specifications The Flex4K-GS incorporates a custom 12-bit CMOS sensor with 6.75 micron pixels. Color cameras include a removable OLPF (Optical Low Pass Filter) to eliminate aliasing caused by the sensor’s bayer-pattern. Because the Flex4K-GS supports both global and rolling shutter modes, it is necessary to understand the differences between each version. This includes important image specifications such as ISO and dynamic range. Spec Global Shutter Mode Rolling Shutter Mode Recommended Exposure Index Range...
