Filetfix III

Product catalog summary
Product Overview: Filetfix® III is an anaerobic adhesive designed for sealing threaded joints in pipes carrying liquids or gases. It is suitable for use with Liquid Petroleum Gas, cold and hot water, air, and petroleum products. The product conforms to several standards, including Gaz de France, WRAS, and EN 751-1 Class H.
Specifications: The adhesive is compatible with threads conforming to ISO 7-1 standards. It provides an instant pressure seal and allows for component adjustment after assembly. The maximum service temperature after polymerization is 130°C, with a minimum of -55°C. The maximum gap for application is 0.3 mm, and it can withstand pressures up to 7 bar.
Storage and Handling: Filetfix® III should be stored between 5ºC and 25ºC in its original packaging to maintain its shelf life. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and degreased before application, with acetone recommended as a solvent. The adhesive should not be used in contact with pure oxygen or steam, nor to rectify faults in damaged joints.
Application Guidelines: The adhesive can be applied directly from the bottle. For larger volumes or precise application, an automated system is recommended. Components should be tightened using standard tools and normal torque. Joints should not be adjusted after the adhesive has cured.
Polymerization Details: Polymerization is complete after 24 hours. The open time varies depending on the materials used, with a general range of 3 to 10 minutes. The polymerization time doubles for each 8ºC drop in temperature, and below 5ºC, polymerization will not occur.
Health and Safety: Users are advised to consult the Material Safety Data Sheet before first use. The product is intended for professional use only.
Contact Information: Virax provides customer service support in France and internationally, with contact details provided for both.

Technical Data sheet Filetfix® III (anaerobic adhesive) for Only nals ssio profe Pipe-sealant for threaded joints in contact with Liquid Petroleum Gas, cold and hot water, air and petroleum products. • • • • Conforms to the Gaz de France specification WRAS drinking water approval DGVW(NG-5146BN0170) listed product for contact with potable water {except those to the TRGI 86/96 standard} Conforms to the European standard EN 751-1 Class H Virax Filetfix® III is an anaerobic adhesive which polymerises rapidly. It was developed to seal pipes carrying liquids or gases. It conforms to Gaz de France’s CERUG –MC2AL/Nº5758 specification for threads which conform to the ISO 7-1 standard (taper/parallel and taper/taper). Its open time allows the components to be adjusted after assembly but gives an instant pressure seal which makes it an advantageous replacement for traditional sealing methods. The components can easily be disassembled with standard tools. The product should be used before the use-by-date printed on the bottle. The life expectancy is dependent on the product being stored between 5ºC and 25ºC in its original packaging; if the storage conditions are not met the life expectancy of the product will be reduced. CAUTION DO NOT ADJUST JOINTS AFTER ADHESIVE IS CURED. DO NOT USE ANAEROBIC ADHESIVES IN APPLICATIONS WHERE THEY WILL COME INTO CONTACT WITH PURE OXYGEN OR STEAM. FILETFIX® CANNOT BE USED TO RECTIFY FAULTS IN DAMAGED THREADED JOINTS. When using with brass joints in hot-water installations, carry out test beforehand. NB Copper and its alloys give a very rapid polymerisation. Oxidised or passivated surfaces, as well as zinc, give a slower polymerisation. Before using the product for the first time we recommend that you read the Materials Safety Data Sheet on www. virax.fr. Filetfix® III should be used on clean, dry and degreased surfaces. We recommend the use of a solvent such as acetone. The product can be applied directly from the bottle onto the threads to be sealed. If large volumes or precise application are required, then we recommend that an automated system be employed. The components to be assembled should be tightened using standard tools and the normal torque. Caution: do not re-tighten joints that have already cured.
