Introduction
This document is a preliminary datasheet for the PVA-3-SMD series of InAs room-temperature photovoltaic infrared detectors by VIGO Photonics S.A. It outlines the features, applications, specifications, and recommended conditions for use.

Features
The detectors cover a spectral range of 1.3 to 3.6 µm without a filter and are made from RoHS-compliant III-V material. They have a large active area, are front-side illuminated, and can operate at high ambient temperatures. The detectors are housed in a compact, surface-mount ceramic package (4x4 mm²) and are compatible with lead-free solder reflow. There is no minimum order quantity required.

Applications
The detectors are suitable for gas detection, monitoring, and analysis of gases such as H₂O, HF, CH₄, C₂H₂, C₂H₄, C₂H₆, and NH₃. They can also be used in combustion process control, green energy, and medical laser control.

Recommended Accessories
The SMD-3.6k-AMP amplifier is recommended for use with these detectors.

Series Description
The series includes several models with varying features such as cooling, temperature sensors, active area diameter, optical immersion, package type, acceptance angle, and window type. Specific models include PVA-3-d1.2-SMD-NW-115, PVA-3-d1.2-SMD-pAl2O3-115, PVA-3-d1.2-SMD-BPF2920-B070-115, and PVA-3-d1.2-SMD-BPF3330-B150-115.

Specifications
At an ambient temperature of 293 K and a bias voltage of 0 V, the detectors have specific cut-on, peak, and cut-off wavelengths, detectivity, current responsivity, time constant, and dynamic resistance values. For example, the PVA-3-d1.2-SMD-NW-115 model has a cut-on wavelength of 1.30 µm, a peak wavelength of 2.90 µm, and a cut-off wavelength of 3.60 µm.

Recommended Reflow Soldering Conditions
Desoldering and re-soldering may degrade the detector. The recommended reflow soldering conditions include preheating for 50 to 100 seconds, soldering for 20 to 80 seconds, and a peak temperature of 230-240°C for a maximum of 20 seconds.

Absolute Maximum Ratings
The detectors can operate at ambient temperatures between -20 to 70°C and can be stored within the same temperature range. The maximum incident optical power density is 100 W/cm² for continuous wave or single pulses longer than 1 µs, and 1 MW/cm² for pulses shorter than 1 µs. The maximum bias voltage is -1 V. Exceeding these ratings may cause permanent damage.

Spectral Response
Graphs are provided showing the typical spectral response of different models at an ambient temperature of 293 K.
