Product catalog summary
Overview
The document discusses the Series 460 Bolt-On Strain Gauge Sensors, designed for measuring tensile, compressive, and bending stresses in various industrial applications. These sensors are suitable for use on vehicles, civil engineering structures, silos, hoppers, bridges, oil rigs, ship hulls, and building roofs.

Specifications
The sensors are easy to install without fine wiring or soldering and are rated to IP68, making them suitable for various environmental conditions, including underwater. They are pre-tested for reliability and quality.

Diversity and Compatibility
The sensors use advanced strain gauge techniques and are compatible with load and strain indicators and amplifiers. They can connect directly to a PC or data logger.

3-Hole and 2-Hole Bolt-On Sensors
The 3-Hole sensor corrects differential temperature effects between the sensor and structure, while the 2-Hole sensor is recommended for structures at least 10 times larger than the sensor for accurate measurements.

Full Specifications
- Rated Strain Range: 10 - 1,100 micro-strain
- Maximum Strain: 1,500 micro-strain
- Rated Output: 1.5mV/V for 1,000 micro-strain
- Linearity & Repeatability: 0.1% of rated output
- Environmental Protection: IP68
- Operating Temperature: -20˚C to +80˚C
- Storage Temperature: -40˚C to +100˚C
- Chemical Resistance: Resistant to various chemicals and fuels

Installation Guidelines
The sensor should be mounted on a flat, clean surface. Adhesives can be used to reduce long-term movement, and surfaces should be thoroughly degreased before application. Recommended cleaning agents include Loctite 7063.

Application Examples
Typical applications include vehicles, silos, oil rigs, hoppers, and ship hulls.

Installation Procedure
Align the sensor with the structure, loosely bolt it, and ensure it is not pre-stressed. If using adhesives, apply them as directed and tighten bolts alternately to achieve even torque. Recommended adhesives include Loctite Retaining Compound 638.

TYPICAL APPLICATION Present the sensor to the structure and check alignment of the fixing holes, loosely bolt the sensor to the structure to check that the sensor is not pre-stressed by the bolts. If using adhesives, remove the bolts and apply adhesive to either (a) Both surfaces or (b) One surface and catalyst to the other as directed. Present the sensor to the structure and loosely tighten the bolt by hand. Tighten alternately to achieve an even torque for each of the bolts. The bolt tightening should be carried out in a minimum of three even steps. A typical bolting torque of 40 Nm should...
