Calculation Steps Direction Speed with VXM

Product catalog summary
Overview: This document provides detailed specifications and calculations for the VXM motor control system, focusing on step, direction, and speed calculations for both 1.8° (200 step) and 0.9° (400 step) motors. It includes data for Velmex linear products and rotary tables.
Specifications:
  • Linear Products: The document lists lead screw codes for BiSlide®, UniSlide®, and XSlide™ systems, detailing the advance per turn and per step, along with speed calculations at 1000 steps per second (SPS) for both motor types.
  • Rotary Tables: Specifications for Velmex rotary tables include gear ratios, advance per turn, and per step, with corresponding speeds for the VXM system.
Procedures:
  • Direction: For screw drive actuators, positive direction moves away from the motor. For worm gear rotary tables, positive is typically counter-clockwise (CCW).
  • Step Calculation: To convert real units to steps, divide the desired distance by the advance per step. Examples are provided for both linear and rotary movements.
Formulas:
  • 1 Motor (1.8°) revolution equals 400 half-steps on the VXM.
  • Linear and rotary speed is calculated as advance per step multiplied by steps per second.
  • Pulses per second divided by 400 gives the revolutions per second of the motor (divide by 800 for a 0.9° motor).
  • 1 Motor (0.9°) revolution equals 800 half-steps on the VXM.
Key Data: The document includes tables with specific measurements for advance per turn and step, and corresponding speeds for different lead screw pitches and rotary table models.

Calculation Steps Direction Speed with VXM-3

VXM® Calculation of Steps, Direction and Speed - Direction is relative to the device the motor is on. On screw drive actuators like UniSlides®, BiSlides® and XSlides™, positive is the direction moving away from the motor. - On worm gear type Rotary Tables like the Velmex B4800 or B5990, positive is normally counter clockwise (CCW.) To convert from “real” units to steps when using a 1.8°, divide the distanced desired to move by the Advance Per Step. (Distance / Advance per Step = Steps for the VXM) Example #1: To move 3 inches with the BiSlide E04 lead screw (3 ÷ 0.001 = 3,000) requires a 3,000...
