The Velan design uses a fullround ball, with two seating surfaces. It's as if every valve came with a spare ball. Packing is pure braided Teflon, with an adjustable gland and a deep stuffing box. There is no cantilever ball-lifting, so no sideways force on the shaft. Our gland has a history of zero leakage.
