Capacitive level measurement is a technique that allows for the measurement of levels without blind spots across the entire sensor length. It is particularly advantageous for measuring aggressive liquids due to the fully insulated sensors, offering a cost-effective and maintenance-free solution.
Principle of Operation
In this method, the sensor and the vessel act as the two electrodes of a capacitor. Any change in the level results in a change in capacitance, which is then converted into a level signal. The sensors are versatile, with options for shortenable cables and rods to suit various applications.
Product Specifications
- VEGACAL 62, 63, 64: Suitable for bulk solids and non-conductive liquids, with a measuring range up to 6 m (4 m for VEGACAL 64). They feature partly or fully insulated rods made of materials like steel, 316L, and PTFE. They operate within a temperature range of -50 to +200 °C and pressure range of -1 to +64 bar.
- VEGACAL 65, 66: Designed for bulk solids and non-abrasive liquids, with a measuring range up to 32 m. They use partly or fully insulated cables and operate within similar temperature and pressure ranges as the previous models.
- VEGACAL 67, 69: These models cater to bulk solids with high process temperatures and liquids in non-conductive vessels, respectively. VEGACAL 67 supports rods up to 6 m and cables up to 40 m, while VEGACAL 69 is suitable for up to 4 m. They are designed for high temperature and specific pressure conditions.
Common Features
All models offer signal outputs of 4...20 mA/HART, Profibus PA, and Foundation Fieldbus, with display and adjustment options via PLICSCOM, PACTware/DTM, VEGADIS 81, VEGADIS 82, and the VEGA Tools app. They are approved by various standards including ATEX, UKEX, IECEx, and others, ensuring safety and reliability.
