FIBERTRAC 32

Product catalog summary
Overview
The FIBERTRAC 32 is a radiation-based sensor designed for continuous level and interface measurement of liquids and bulk solids. It is particularly effective in extreme process conditions, such as high temperatures and aggressive or problematic products. The sensor's enlarged detector ensures quick and precise measurements.

Benefits
  • Non-contact measurement enhances plant availability.
  • Flexible detector allows easy mounting on various vessel shapes.
  • Large measuring range increases efficiency.

Functionality
The sensor uses a Caesium-137 or Cobalt-60 isotope to emit gamma rays, which are received by a sensor on the opposite side of the vessel. The scintillator converts these rays into signals to calculate level, limit level, density, and mass flow rate.

Technical Specifications
  • Measuring range: 1 to 7 meters (3.28 to 22.97 feet).
  • Repeatability: ±0.5% at -20°C to +50°C (-4°F to +122°F).
  • Voltage supply: 20 to 72 V DC; 20 to 253 V AC, 50/60 Hz.
  • Max power consumption: 4 W; 6 VA.
  • Weight: Max 10.2 kg (24 lbs) plus 2.31 kg/m (1.55 lbs/ft).
  • SIL qualification: Optionally up to SIL2.

Materials and Construction
The detector rod is made of galvanized steel with a Santoprene rubber coating, and polystyrene is used as the scintillation material. Housing options include aluminum or stainless steel with IP 66/IP 67 protection.

Electronics and Approvals
Available in four-wire electronics with 4 to 20 mA/HART, and digital versions with Profibus PA and Foundation Fieldbus. Detailed approval information is available on the VEGA website.

Adjustment and Connection
Adjustments can be made via the PLICSCOM module or a PC with PACTware software. Bluetooth connectivity is available for wireless adjustments. The device features primary and secondary terminal connections for various outputs and inputs.

Additional Resources
Further information, including operating instructions and product brochures, can be found on the VEGA website. The "Finder" and "VEGA Tools" on the website assist in selecting the appropriate measuring principle for specific applications.

FIBERTRAC 32-1

Specification sheet FIBERTRAC 32 4 ... 20 mA/HART - four-wire Radiation-based sensor for continuous level and interface measurement Application area The FIBERTRAC 32 is a radiation-based sensor for continuous measurement of liquids and bulk solids. It is suitable for level and interface measurement under extreme process temperatures, in aggressive products or products with problematic properties. Due to the enlarged detector, the FIBERTRAC 32 delivers even quicker and more precise measuring results even under the toughest application conditions. Your benefit • High plant availability through non-contact measurement • Simple mounting on round and conical vessels thanks to flexible detector • Efficiency due to the large measuring range Function In radiation-based measurement, a Caesium-137 or Cobalt-60 isotope emits focussed gamma rays. A special sensor on the opposite side of the vessel receives this radiation. The scintillator of the sensor converts these gamma rays into signals, the number of which is detected and evaluated. Since gamma rays are attenuated when penetrating matter, the sensor is able to calculate the level, the limit level, the density and the mass flow rate from the intensity of the received radiation. The instruments are available in different electronics versions. Apart from the four-wire electronics with 4 ... 20 mA/HART, two purely digital versions with Profibus PA and Foundation Fieldbus are possible. Approvals You can find detailed information on the existing approvals in the ''configurator' on our homepage at www.vega.com/configurator. Specification sheet Adjustment The adjustment of the instrument is carried out via the optional display and adjustment module PLICSCOM or via a PC with the adjustment software PACTware and corresponding DTM. The Bluetooth version of display and adjustment module enables a wireless connection to standard adjustment units. This can be for example a PC with PACTware and Bluetooth USB adapter. Here, the adjustment is carried out via the adjustment software PACTware andthe respective DTM. Adjustment possibilities Further adjustment options are possible via a HART Communicator as well as manufacturer-specific...
