Low Temperature SUMO Source

Low Temperature SUMO Source

Low Temperature SUMO Source

Product catalog summary
Overview
The document describes the patented Low Temperature SUMO® Source, which is designed for non-valved evaporation of high vapor pressure materials. It features a dual filament heater and a uniquely shaped crucible, operating in a hot-lipped mode to prevent material recondensation.

Specifications
The SUMO Source operates within a temperature range of 100–750°C, ensuring stability crucial for high vapor pressure materials. It includes a heat-shielding package for optimal responsiveness and stability. The source is available in various sizes, with specifications for both single-wafer and multi-wafer MBE systems.

Design and Construction
The SUMO crucible is designed with a cylindrical reservoir for large charge capacity, a small tapered orifice for optimal flux distribution, and an exit cone for uniform flux. It is constructed from PBN for optimal material quality. An optional insert can restrict the orifice size to improve performance for high vapor pressure materials.

Applications
The Low Temperature SUMO Source is ideal for organic materials used in OLEDs and electronic applications, providing stable and uniform deposition. A "longhorn" SUMO crucible is available for applications requiring a collimated beam.

Performance and Benefits
Key benefits include optimal performance at lower temperatures, large charge capacity, long-term flux stability, and minimal shutter transients. The dual filament "Hot-Lip" heating prevents condensation at the crucible orifice.

Product Specifications
The document provides detailed specifications for various source sizes, including charge materials, crucible type, filament type, mounting flange size, thermocouple type, and operating temperatures. It also includes a selection guide for single-wafer and multi-wafer MBE systems.

Low Temperature SUMO Source-1

SUMO Source The patented Low Temperature SUMO® Source is the best available source for non-valved evaporation of high vapor pressure materials. The SUMO source is comprised of a dual filament heater tailored to a uniquely shaped crucible. The source is operated in hot-lipped mode to prevent flux shadowing and source occlusion caused by material recondensation at the crucible lip. The Low Temperature SUMO Source is enclosed in a heat-shielding package designed for optimal source responsiveness and stability in the operating range of 100-750°C. Temperature stability is critical with high vapor pressure materials, since even a small temperature variation produces a dramatic change in flux. Heat radiated from the substrate manipulator sometimes makes it difficult to maintain a stable beam flux at very low source operating conditions. Due to the • Shutter transients virtually material quality • Uniformity depends on fill level and crucible shape • Shutter transients reduced material quality • Uniformity depends on fill level and crucible shape • Shutter transients may exist material quality In comparison/ the SUMO Source is the best available source for non-valved evaporation of high vapor pressure materials.
