Overview: This document is a performance specification sheet for a crystal-controlled oscillator (XO), covering frequencies from 450 kHz to 100 MHz. It is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
Specifications: The oscillator is hermetically sealed with a maximum leakage rate of 5 x 10-8 atm cc/s and weighs a maximum of 3 grams. It operates with a supply voltage of +3.3 V dc ±10 percent and is compatible with low voltage CMOS logic.
Interface and Physical Dimensions: Detailed in Figure 1, the oscillator includes pins for enable/disable, ground, output, and VDD. Tolerances for dimensions are specified.
Performance Requirements: The oscillator must meet class 2 requirements and verification tests. It is manufacturer calibrated and screened according to MIL-PRF-55310, product level B or S.
Environmental Conditions: Operating temperature ranges are specified in Table I, with storage temperatures from -62°C to +125°C. The oscillator must withstand reflow soldering at +230°C ±10°C for 15 seconds without performance degradation.
Electrical Characteristics: The output waveform is a symmetrical square wave, with logic levels defined as 90% of VDD for logic 1 and 10% of VDD for logic 0. Rise and fall times, duty cycle, and input current are detailed in Table I.
Frequency Stability: Frequency-temperature tolerance is measured over specified temperature ranges, with frequency-voltage tolerance at ±4 ppm for a ±10% change in supply voltage. Frequency aging is specified at ±10 ppm per year.
Testing and Verification: Includes terminal strength, vibration, and ambient pressure tests as per MIL-STD-202. Nonoperating and operating conditions are specified.
Part Identification: The Part or Identifying Number (PIN) includes a prefix, specification sheet number, product level, dash number, operating temperature range, and frequency.
Reference Documents: This specification references MIL-PRF-55310 and MIL-STD-202.
