The RO-2 series gearboxes feature a robust one-piece cast housing with input bevel gears and output helical stages, available in four sizes with 17 reduction ratios and output torques from 120 to 500 Nm.
Constructed with pressure die-cast aluminum housing and alloy steel gears, the gearboxes include NBR oil seals, with Viton and Silicone options. Bearings vary between ball and tapered roller types based on size and requirements.
VARVEL-ATEX gearboxes are designed for explosive atmospheres, compliant with Directive 94/9/CE, suitable for Group II zones, Category 2 or 3, for gas or dust hazards.
Offering foot and flange mounts, the gearboxes provide various output shaft configurations, including hollow with keyway, shrink disk, splined, and solid shafts.
Gearboxes are pre-filled with synthetic long-life oil (ISO VG 320), eliminating the need for additional oil or vent plugs.
The RO-2 series gearboxes are engineered for rigorous standards, ensuring reliable performance in diverse industrial applications, with compliance to international certifications and ATEX directives for safety in hazardous environments.
Primary mounting options include foot mounting (B3) and flange mounting (B5), related to the output shaft rather than the fixing method.
The service factor (FS1.0) is based on 8-hour daily operation with uniform load, fewer than 200 starts per hour, and ambient temperatures between 15 and 35°C. For temperatures above 40°C or below 0°C, consult customer service.
Load classes are categorized as uniform load, moderate shock load, and severe shock load, affecting the service factor.
Defined by CEI EN 60034-1/IEC34-1 standards, duty types include continuous duty (S1) and periodic intermittent duty (S3).
Radial and axial loads on the gearbox output shaft must be verified based on output speed, mounting position, and transmission element type.
Versions include motorized gearboxes with two gear sets (MRO-2), gearboxes with input motor flange (FRO-2), gearboxes without input motor flange but with a hollow shaft (SRO-2), and gearboxes with an input solid shaft (RO-2).
Rated power (P1) is applicable at the gearbox input under continuous operation, with thermal power (Pt1) potentially limiting rated power based on cooling, input speed, ambient temperature, and service factor.

The European Directive 94/9/EC-ATEX applies to machinery and components for use in explosive environments. VARVEL-ATEX gearboxes are designed with metallic housings, FKM-Fluor-elastomer oil seals, and sealed thread screws, essential for operation in explosive environments.

- Painting: Protect seals and shafts during repainting.
- Long-term Storage: Apply antioxidants and protective grease for storage over three months.
In line with ISO 14001, dispose of components at authorized centers, deliver oils to Exhausted Oil Unions, and recycle packaging materials.
Ensure storage is dry and dust-free. For storage exceeding three months, apply rust protection to processed surfaces and shafts. Protect sealing lips with grease.
In compliance with ISO 14001, separate metal parts for recycling and dispose of lubricants at authorized facilities. Reuse packaging whenever possible.
