PackChek is a hot melt inspection system designed for end-of-line packaging. It can be installed on various machines such as case sealers, cartoners, and wrap-around machines. The system supports high-speed operations, handling line speeds over 300 feet per minute and up to 10,000 cases per hour.
PackChek can be mounted inside the packer or on a discharge conveyor, making it adaptable to most packing lines. Installation typically takes 1-2 days and requires an encoder signal, sensors, cameras, and an ejector.
Defects are identified based on user-defined tolerance levels, including missing beads, bad beads, critical beads, and excess glue. Tolerances can be adjusted and are displayed in real-time for each order. The system uses thermal and visual imaging to inspect glue application.
PackChek tracks each product between the gluing area and cameras, recording 'cooled' cases by default. It saves defective images for up to six months and allows for real-time adjustments to glue patterns. The system can also ignore products that have cooled excessively during machine downtime.
PackChek learns different products through pre-programmed patterns, touch screen inputs, and templates from 'good products.' Users can adjust patterns on a 24-inch touchscreen without stopping the machine.

How does the system “learn” different products? PackChek learns different products in three ways: 1. Pre-programmed products and glue patterns can be selected remotely via Ethernet to the system. 2. Actual pattern dimensions can be input on the touch screen. 3. Accurate patterns found on “good products” can be saved as templates and used as a benchmark for comparison. Users simply draw rectangular frames around the bead(s) directly on the 24-inch touchscreen to the pattern template, which can be fine-tuned while the machine is running to avoid costly downtime for setup and adjustments.
