Technical Specifications
The USTER® MN100 is a nep processing control system designed to measure the number and size of neps in cotton. The system includes the main instrument, a computer, display, keyboard, NEP MANAGER software, and necessary materials and manuals.
Application Range
The system is used for measuring single neps in cotton fibers, applicable to 100% cotton and up to 50/50% cotton/synthetic blends. It can be used with cotton bales, laps, slivers, and roving. The measurement principle is optical, providing results in neps per gram and nep size. Sample size ranges from 0.4 to 0.6 grams, with each test taking approximately 2 to 3 minutes.
Operation
The system requires minimal training and features a graphical user interface. Data is displayed on-screen and stored in a database. It connects to a PC for data retrieval and analysis and can also connect to a printer.
Dimensions and Power Supply
The USTER® MN100 is a desktop instrument operated by a single person, measuring 394 x 660 x 203 mm (15.5 x 26 x 8 inches) and weighing approximately 29.5 kg (65 lbs). It operates on 207-230 V AC, 50 or 60 Hz, consuming 250 VA.
Environmental Conditions
According to ASTM D1776, the laboratory environment must be controlled at 21±1°C (70°F ±1°F) and 65±2% relative humidity for consistent and comparable results. Fiber samples should be conditioned in this environment for 24 hours before testing.
