Camera Registration for ILS Platforms: Streamline Cut-Path Positioning for Printed Materials

Product catalog summary
Introduction
Universal has developed a Camera Registration system for ILS platforms to enhance precision in cutting printed materials. Traditional methods like edge and pin registration have limitations in accuracy and workflow efficiency, which this new system aims to overcome.
What is Universal’s Camera Registration?
The Universal Camera Registration (UCR) system integrates a camera within the laser system to detect and adjust to registration marks on printed materials. This allows for automatic adjustment of the cut path to fit the material's position, simplifying the user's task of material placement.
About ILS Platforms
The camera registration feature is exclusive to new ILS systems, specifically the ILS9.75 and ILS12.75 platforms. The ILS9.75 offers a work envelope of 36" x 24" x 12", while the ILS12.75 provides a larger 48" x 24" x 12" space, catering to diverse production needs.
Advantages/Benefits
Unlike other systems that require proprietary software or additional plug-ins, UCR allows users to work directly with popular vector-based Windows software like Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and AutoCAD. It supports standard registration marks and can learn new ones, with direct support from Universal Laser Systems.
Workflow
The workflow involves using a screen to display the cut path with registration marks, aligning the material with these marks, and achieving a precisely cut finished product.

Camera Registration for ILS Platforms: Streamline Cut-Path Positioning for Printed Materials-1

Camera Registration for ILS Platforms Streamline Cut-Path Positioning for Printed Materials Printed materials sometimes require precision cutting in register with the printing. Common registration methods, including edge registration and pin registration, have accuracy limitations and can present work- flow challenges. To solve these issues, Universal developed camera registration for ILS platforms. ► What is Universali Camera Registration? Universal^ Camera Registration (UCR) features a camera mounted inside the laser system that locates and determines the exact positions or registration marks on printed materials. Software adjusts the predefined cut path to fit the material. A laser system user simply places material close to the correct position in the laser system and the UCR automatically makes adjust- ments to the cut path to fit the material where it is placed. Material with registration marks Screen - cut path with registration marks Finished Cut Material Camera registration is available exclusively on new ILS systems. The ILS9.75 and ILS12.75 platforms are designed for laser material processing in a wide variety of production environments. The ILS9.75 has a spacious 36" x 24" x 12" work envelope. The ILS12.75 is our largest and most versatile platform with a 48" x 24" x 12" work envelope. Camera registration systems are available for other cutting systems, but they typically either require users to leave their design software of choice and work within proprietary registration layout software or they require cumbersome additional software plug-ins that may not be compatible with future design software updates. In addition, they typically recognize only one or just a few types of registration marks. With Universal^ Camera Registration (UCR) advantages customers are able to: Work directly with most popular vector-based Windows software including Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW and AutoCAD (no import or software plug-ins required) Use standard registration marks including unfilled circle, solid circle, cross hairs and combined crosshairs/circle Teach new registration marks Get support directly from Universal because the UCR was developed by and is supported by ULS ► Contact your Universal Laser Systems authorized channel partner for more information.
