Compressed air flowmeters CAM 5400

Product catalog summary
Overview: The CAM 5400 is a flowmeter designed for compressed-air systems, specifically for use with compressed air and nitrogen. It features a clamp-on design that requires no cutting or welding for installation, and it provides direct flow readings with no setup or adjustment needed.
Specifications:
  • Accuracy: Normal range accuracy is 5% of reading plus 1% of full scale at air temperatures between 40 and 120°F. Extended range accuracy is 7% of reading from rated full scale to 150% of full scale.
  • Fluids: Suitable for compressed air and nitrogen.
  • Operating Pressure: Best accuracy between 15 to 170 psig, with a maximum of 200 psig on Sch. 40 steel and Type L copper.
  • Input Power: 250 mA at 18 to 24 Vdc.
  • Output Resistance: 400 Ohms max.
  • Materials: Wetted materials include stainless steel, gold, epoxy, and Viton® seals.
  • Display: Four-digit LED display.
  • Response Time: One second to 63% of final value.
Features:
  • Easy installation with no calibration required.
  • Digital display with milliamp and pulse outputs.
  • 100:1 turndown capability.
  • Optional RS-485 output for networking.
  • Rotatable housing for vertical or horizontal installation.
Available Sizes: The flowmeter is available in sizes ranging from 2 to 6 inches, with specific model numbers for Sch 40 Steel and Type L Copper.
Application: The meter is designed for use in non-safety and non-life-support applications. It should not be used as the sole means of determining air compressor capacity and must be installed away from wet or hazardous locations.
Installation: Installation involves drilling holes in the pipe, ensuring downstream equipment is protected from metal shavings. The meter requires specific pipe lengths upstream and downstream for best accuracy.
Power Supply: Comes with an 18-Volt, 300 mA wall-plug dc supply for 110 V main, with options for 230 V main.
Outputs: The meter provides isolated, unpowered milliamp and pulse outputs, with the option to power from the instrument’s dc supply.
Ranges and Scaling: The standard display is in scfm, with options for other units. The milliamp output scales linearly from 4 to 20 milliamps.
Accessories: Includes drill guides for different pipe sizes and a summing remote display for monitoring usage over time.

Compressed air flowmeters CAM 5400-1

CAM 5400 FLOWMETER FOR COMPRESSED-AIR SYSTEMS • Easy to install • Digital display • Milliamp and pulse outputs • 100:1 turndown capability • No calibration or setup required • Complete owmeter in one package • Optional RS-485 output for networking • Housing rotates to suit vertical or horizontal installation DESCRIPTION SPECIFICATIONS The CAM 5400 clamps onto a pipe, with two ow-sensing probes projecting into the pipe through 3/16-in. drilled holes. It seals directly to the pipe; no cutting or welding is required for installation. Because each owmeter is made and calibrated for a specic size of pipe, the digital display indicates ow directly, with no setup or adjustment. Accuracy, normal range: 5 percent of reading plus one percent of full scale at air temperatures between 40 and 120 degrees F The meter measures ow by maintaining one probe warmer than the other. It calculates the mass velocity from the amount of heat required, and then calculates the ow on the basis of pipe area. The ow rate, in scfm, is shown on a large, four-digit display; a 4-20 mA output and a pulse output permit remote display, totalizing and data collection. Compressed air flowmeters CAM 5400-2

APPLICATION POWER SUPPLY The meter is designed for use with compressed air and nitrogen. If the meter will be used at pressures below 15 psig, consult factory about velocity limitations. The air must be free of oil, dirt that could foul the probes, and suspended water droplets. If the meter must be mounted near a compressor, isolate it from the compressor by placing it downstream of a dryer or storage tank. Each meter is calibrated for a specic size and type of pipe. Each meter is furnished with an 18-Volt, 300 mA wall-plug dc supply for 110 V main with a 20-foot cable. For 230 V main, contact...
