Information Data Sheet Detection of benzene (C6H6) in air or in technical gases. 2. Detector Tube Sampling Pump KWIK DRAW(formerly MSA AUER) Gas-Tester® IIH, Gas-Tester® I / ThumbPump™-Sampler, Toximeter® II, Uniphos Kwik-Draw™-Pump or other suitable detector tubes pumps. Observe respective instructions for use. 5 ppm ... 100 ppm benzene at 10 pump strokes (n=10). 4. Chemical Reaction and Color Change Oxidation of benzene by an iodate/ sulfuric acid reagent. Color change: white ^ brown. 5. Ambient Conditions During Sampling Detector tubes can be used without compensation of the reading between 0 °C and 40 °C (32 °F and 104 °F) and in the humidity range up to 15 g/m3 (85 % rh at 20°C [68°F], 30% rH at 40°C [104°F]). 6. Interferences and Cross Sensitivities - hydrogen, methane, ethane, propane, butanes, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide. - sulfur dioxide, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide up to 1000 ppm. b) Saturated hydrocarbons (e.g. hexanes, octanes), olefinic hydrocarbons (e.g. ethylene), hydrogen sulfide, carbon disulfide will be indicated by a slight brown or pink discoloration. The benzene indication is distinctly readable against that background. c) Higher aromatic hydrocarbons (e.g. toluene, xylenes) will be indicated by a reddish brown discoloration. The sensitivity of indication is lower than for benzene. Marketing Office: Uniphos Envirotronic Pvt.
