KSS Cable Protection Systems

Product catalog summary
Cable Protection Systems Overview
The KSS Cable Protection System is engineered for effective sealing and flexible cable management, allowing for immediate directional changes post-building emergence. It is compatible with standard protective tubes and ensures cables remain undamaged by building or soil movements, providing gas- and watertight connections without costly earthworks.

System Components and Variants
The system includes a flexible, stress-resistant plastic spiral hose. Components can be mixed within a system or hose size, facilitating connections to sealing collars or drilled holes. Variants include KSS B150, KSS 150, KSS 110, and KSS 85, each catering to different connection needs. System covers with various connection pieces are available for sealing cables using shrink-on techniques, and the Rubber Press Seal GPD ensures gas- and watertight connections.

Application and Function
Cables are sealed using heat or cold shrink-on sleeves, with unused connections sealed with plugs for future use. The system offers replacements for parts with material faults but not for transport or installation defects.

Technical Specifications
The system provides spiral hoses in various sizes with specific bending radii and wall thicknesses. Accessories include pipe clamps, sealing plugs, and installation tools.

Testing and Certification
Fraunhofer Gesellschaft Bremen conducted tests confirming the system's gas- and watertight properties, including gastightness, presswater tightness, and shock wave resistance.

Water Tightness at Low Temperatures
Specimens were tested for presswater tightness using a water/antifreeze solution at low temperatures for 24 hours. The BKD 150-D3/60 cover was tested for helium gastightness and presswater tightness, confirming excellent sealing capabilities.

Test Parameters
Tests included gastightness with air at 1 bar, presswater tightness at 5 bars, gastightness with helium at 5 bars, and presswater tightness at low temperatures at 5 bars at -27°C / -25°C.

Shock Wave Test Results
Results for KD 85, KD 110, and KD 150 showed varying pressure resistances, with the highest being 21.92 bars for KD 150 D3/60.

Gastightness Test Result
The partial pressure after setup was 5.4 x 10-6 mbars, superior to the atmospheric helium partial pressure of approximately 4.8 x 10-6 mbars.

Presswater Tightness Test Result
No liquid emerged, indicating the effective structure of the sealing collar and expansion seal, ensuring the connection remains intact as concrete dries.

Test Report UGA Systems BKD 150 and KD The tests with systems BKD 150 and KD were carried out at the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft Bremen (IFAM). These tests were to show if UGA’s cable bushings type KD 85, KD 110, KD 150, BKD 150 and system KSS are gas- and watertight. A special test specimen consisting of a concrete part and a test bell was developed for this test. The corresponding sealing collar was imbedded into the concrete part with a waterproof concrete. The surface of the concrete part was sealed as this test was to reveal the bonding characteristics of the sealing collar to the concrete and...
