The GENIS 2 product line by TYROLIT represents an advanced level of performance for external cylindrical grinding using vitrified-bonded CBN tools. It is designed to enhance grain utilization, economic efficiency, running precision, and application range.
GENIS 2 features a high-strength bond with excellent moistening properties, securely binding the CBN grain. The low bond volumes allow for very porous, cool-grinding, and easy-cutting specifications, ensuring a long tool lifetime.
The new specifications of GENIS 2 guarantee maximum stock removal performance, thereby increasing production capacity.
GENIS 2 ensures high running precision due to finely balanced wheels and ground bores, reducing tool changing times. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, from highly porous specifications for sensitive components to ultra-hard, dense layers for extreme applications like peel grinding.
In a practical application involving motor vehicle camshaft grinding, GENIS 2 demonstrated improved dressing cycles and reduced cycle times compared to competitors, processing 90 shafts compared to 70 by competitors, and reducing cycle time from 136 seconds to 65 seconds.
The increased bond strength of GENIS 2 results in grain fracturing rather than break-out, enhancing cutting ability and CBN grain utilization, which in turn extends the tool life.
