Product catalog summary
General Information
Multileaf dampers of Type JZ-HL are designed for volume flow and pressure control in air conditioning systems, offering low-leakage shut-off for ducts and openings. They are available in standard and intermediate sizes, with maximum dimensions of 2000 × 1995 mm. The dampers feature aerofoil opposed action blades interconnected by external linkage, ensuring robust and low-maintenance operation.
Specifications
- Maximum dimensions: 2000 × 1995 mm
- Closed blade air leakage: EN 1751, classes 1 – 2
- Casing air leakage: EN 1751, class C
- Operating temperature: 0 – 100 °C
- Materials: Galvanised sheet steel for casing and blades, PP/PTV plastic for blade tip seals
- Optional powder-coated construction for increased corrosion resistance
Technical Data
The dampers are designed to handle a test pressure up to 2000 Pa, with different classes of air leakage depending on the size. They can operate within a temperature range of 0 to 100 °C. The torque required for closing ensures safe operation, countering aerodynamic forces.
Construction Features
- Rectangular casing with welded construction
- Flanges on both sides for duct connection
- External linkage with robust coupling rod and horizontal arms
- Blade shafts with a notch for position indication
- Compliance with ATEX guidelines for explosive atmospheres
Optional Equipment and Accessories
- Actuators: Open/Close, modulating, pneumatic, and explosion-proof actuators
- Installation subframe for easy installation
- Reinforced blades for steel or stainless steel variants
Standards and Guidelines
The dampers meet the general requirements of DIN 1946, part 4, regarding acceptable closed blade air leakage. They are maintenance-free, with construction and materials not subject to wear, although contamination should be removed to prevent corrosion.
Attachments and Order Code
The document provides detailed order codes for various configurations, including duct connection types, bearing materials, blade construction, and actuator options. The order example illustrates a configuration with brass bearings, reinforced blades, and a spring return actuator.

Multileaf dampers Functional description Multileaf dampers with external linkage can have parallel action blades or opposed action blades. An external linkage transfers the synchronous rotational movement from the drive arm to the individual blades. Even very large multileaf dampers can be safely opened and closed with this type of linkage. Opposed action blades close at different speeds since the linkage includes a transverse link. This facilitates the closing process and reduces the closed blade air leakage. Schematic illustration of JZ-HL ① Casing ② Opposed blades ③ Blade tip...

Multileaf dampers The torque for closing a multileaf damper must be such that the damper can be safely opened and closed. For closure, the torque must suffice to ensure complete shut-off by the blades. Opening is initiated without aerodynamic forces. When air flows through the damper, the aerodynamic forces of the airflow create a closing force (torque) on the blades; this happens independent of the direction of the airflow. This closing force must be countered, or overcome. The blade position, or blade angle a, for which there is the largest torque depends, among other factors, on the fan characteristics....
