JZ-HL-AL

Product catalog summary
General Information
Multileaf dampers Type JZ-HL-AL are designed for controlling volume flow and pressure in air conditioning systems. They provide low-leakage shut-off for ducts and openings in walls and ceilings, featuring aerofoil opposed action blades interconnected by gears. Available in standard and intermediate sizes, their maximum dimensions are 1200 × 1000 mm.
Specifications
The dampers comply with EN 1751 standards, achieving class 2 for closed blade air leakage and class C for casing air leakage. Constructed from extruded aluminium sections, they have powder-coated or anodised finishes for enhanced corrosion resistance.
Technical Data
Nominal sizes range from 200 × 100 mm to 1200 × 1000 mm, with a maximum static differential pressure of 2000 Pa and an operating temperature range of 0 to 90 °C. The torque required for operation varies with size, ensuring safe opening and closing.
Optional Equipment and Accessories
Available actuators include open/close, modulating, and pneumatic types. Additional accessories include installation subframes, quadrant stays, and limit switches for precise control and adjustment.
Construction Features
The dampers have a rectangular casing with flanges for duct connection, gears on both blade ends, and blade shafts with position indicators. They are maintenance-free due to robust construction and materials.
Installation and Maintenance
Installation is facilitated by optional subframes, and the dampers are designed to be maintenance-free, although contamination should be removed to prevent corrosion and increased air leakage.
Standards and Guidelines
The product meets DIN 1946, part 4 requirements for acceptable closed blade air leakage, ensuring compliance with hygiene standards.
Specifications
Different types of drive shafts are outlined: Standard shaft, ZS99 extended drive shaft, and ZS991 square shaft with a 9 mm dimension. Installation details are provided for both horizontal and vertical blades, with or without an installation subframe. The installation must be torsion-free and is intended for internal spaces only.
Installation Procedures
Wall installation can be done without an installation subframe. Duct installation details are provided with principal dimensions including duct width (B), duct height (H), and the number of flange screw holes (n).
Nomenclature and Parameters
LWA [dB(A)]: A-weighted sound power level of air-regenerated noise for the multileaf damper. α [°]: Damper blade position, where 0° is OPEN and 90° is CLOSED. A [m²]: Upstream cross section. v [m/s]: Airflow velocity based on the upstream cross section (B × H).  [m³/h] and [l/s]: Volume flow rate. Δpst [Pa]: Static differential pressure. Δpst max [Pa]: Maximum static differential pressure. All sound power levels are based on 1 pW.

Multileaf dampers The torque for closing a multileaf damper must be such that the damper can be safely opened and closed. For closure, the torque must suffice to ensure complete shut-off by the blades. Opening is initiated without aerodynamic forces. When air flows through the damper, the aerodynamic forces of the airflow create a closing force (torque) on the blades; this happens independent of the direction of the airflow. This closing force must be countered, or overcome. The blade position, or blade angle a, for which there is the largest torque depends, among other factors, on the fan characteristics....

Multileaf dampers Quick sizing Quick sizing tables provide a good overview of the sound power levels and differential pressures that can be expected. Approximate intermediate values can be interpolated. Precise intermediate values and spectral data can be calculated with our Easy Product Finder design programme. The sound power levels LWA apply to multileaf dampers with a cross-sectional area (B x H) of 1 m2. The differential pressures apply to multileaf dampers installed in ducts (installation type A).
