876 [P0876A] Hand-Held ESVM

Product catalog summary
Overview: The Trek Model 876 and Model 884 are hand-held electrostatic voltmeters designed for accurate, non-contact measurements of electrostatic surface voltage, suitable for ESD applications in both ionized and non-ionized environments. These models overcome typical field-meter limitations by providing measurements independent of probe-to-surface spacing.
Applications: These voltmeters are used in measuring electrostatic surface charge build-up, manufacturing processes, electronic assembly testing, semiconductor and dissipative material testing, automotive electronics testing, and ESD auditing and troubleshooting.
Features and Benefits: The voltmeters offer accurate surface voltage measurements across a wide range of spacings without the need for fixed spacing. They are chopper stabilized for drift-free operation in ionized environments and come with an NIST-traceable Certificate of Calibration.
Model 876 Specifications:
  • Measurement Range: 0 to ±2 kV DC
  • Accuracy: Better than ±5% of full scale over a 5 mm to 25 mm probe-to-surface separation range
  • Dimensions: 31 mm H x 59 mm W x 173 mm D
  • Weight: 200 g with battery
Model 884 Specifications:
  • Measurement Range: 0 to ±20 kV DC
  • Accuracy: Better than ±5% of full scale over a 30 mm to 60 mm probe-to-surface separation range
  • Dimensions: 31 mm H x 59 mm W x 183 mm D
  • Weight: 200 g with battery
Common Features: Both models feature a power on/off push-button switch, stability with less than 600 ppm/hour drift, approximately 8 hours of operating time with a full battery, a hold function for voltage display, and a 3 ½ digit LCD display. They require a 9-volt battery and operate within 15°C to 35°C and up to 85% relative humidity.
Accessories: Supplied accessories include operating instructions, a ground reference cable assembly, and a 9-volt battery. An optional carrying case is available.
Performance Comparison: Graphs illustrate the performance of Models 876 and 884 compared to typical field meters, showing consistent displayed voltage across varying probe-to-surface separations.

876 [P0876A] Hand-Held ESVM-1

The Trek Model 876 (±2kV) and Model 884 (±20kV) Hand-Held Electrostatic Voltmeters provide accurate, noncontacting measurements of electrostatic surface voltage for ESD applications in either ionized or non-ionized environments. These two voltmeters utilize a measurement technique that overcomes the disadvantage of the typical hand-held field-meter by providing surface voltage measurements which are essentially independent of the sensor probe-to-measured surface spacing. Model 876 Key Specifications . Measurement Range: 0 to ±2 kV DC . Measurement Accuracy: Better than ±5% of full scale over the entire recommended probe-to-surface separation range of 5 mm to 25 mm Model 884 Key Specifications . Measurement Range: 0 to ±20 kV DC . Measurement Accuracy: Better than ±5% of full scale over the entire recommended probe-to-surface separation range of 30 mm to 60 mm Typical Applications Include .
