Product catalog summary
Overview
The document provides a detailed description of the Automated Test Rig AFC 131, developed by Topas GmbH, for testing filter media. It highlights the importance of testing in the development and optimization of filter materials and quality assurance during production. Key parameters of interest include differential pressure drop, particle size-dependent filtration efficiency, and dust loading capacity.

Specifications
The AFC 131 test rig is designed for laboratory use, requiring only single-phase mains power and compressed air. It supports air flow rates from 2 to 64 m³/h with a face velocity range of 0.05 to 1 m/s. The differential pressure range is 0 to 1250 Pa, and the cross-section is 176 cm². The rig is equipped with sensors for temperature and relative humidity, and it uses the LAP 321 optical particle counter for measuring particle sizes from 0.3 to 20 µm.

Features and Advantages
  • Flexible design for modifications and future extensions.
  • Fully computer-controlled via PAFWin 3.0 software, which is user-friendly and runs on Windows.
  • Capable of using a wide variety of test aerosols, including dusts, droplets, and salt aerosols.
  • Combination with other Topas instruments for optimal performance and cost efficiency.

Applications
  • Dust loading tests and small-scale filter tests according to standards like EN 779 and ISO 11155-I.
  • Development and optimization of filter media.
  • Quality assurance in production processes.

Control and Data Acquisition
The PAFWin software controls the test rig and records data. It offers automatic test procedures, manual control for service and calibration, and features for data monitoring, presentation, and statistical calculations. The software supports dynamic data exchange and allows user-defined test procedures.

Testing Procedures
Filtration efficiency is measured using an optical particle sizer, with aerosol sampling controlled by a switching valve. The flow rate is maintained constant within 2% of the set value. Dust holding capacity tests can be performed with varying dust concentrations and face velocities, with differential pressure recorded over time.

Additional Information
The test rig is part of a quality management system certified to DIN EN ISO 9001. Specifications are subject to change, and further information can be found on the Topas GmbH website.
