Mono-crystal diamond cutting tool for precision molds

Mono-crystal diamond cutting tool for precision molds

Product catalog summary
Introduction
This document discusses the mono-crystal diamond cutting tool designed for precision molds, particularly for plastic lens molds used in smartphones. The tool is characterized by a cutting edge waviness of 50 nm or less, enabling high-precision machining and reducing mold production processing requirements.

Issue
The increasing demand for larger and wider-angle lenses in smartphones necessitates higher machining accuracy for lens molds. Additionally, to reduce the cost of mass-produced lenses, there is a need for tools with longer life spans.

Solution
The mono-crystal diamond cutting tool, known as "Arcceed," offers a superior cutting edge profile with minimal scratches, enabling high-precision mold forming. The use of natural diamond, which is more wear-resistant than synthetic diamond, extends the tool's life.

Mono-crystal diamond cutting tool for precision molds-1

Mono-crystal diamond cutting tool for precision molds Realization of precision machining and longer tool life for plastic lens molds [Issue] A large number of plastic lenses are used in smartphones, and there is a need for larger lenses and even wider angles to achieve higher sensitivity due to competition in camera functions. In order to achieve this, the machining accuracy of lens molds is crucial. In addition, in order to reduce the cost of mass-produced lenses, longer tool life is required in the machining of molds. [Solution] The use of mono-crystal diamond tools with a superior profile of cutting edge and almost no scratches on the cutting edge and rake enables high precision mold forming. The use of natural diamond, which is more resistant to wear than synthetic diamond, enables the tools to have a longer life.
