Product catalog summary
Protection & Control Functions
The document outlines various protection and control functions of the SSG relay, including undervoltage (27), phase overcurrent (50/51), residual overcurrent (50N/51N), residual overvoltage (59N), live line monitoring (59T), directional overcurrent (67), and directional ground fault (67N). It also includes features like blocking logic selectivity, breaker failure (BF), trip circuit supervision (TCS), and inrush block inhibition. The relay supports two setting profiles (BANK A or BANK B) activated via logical input or communication interfaces.
Construction
The relay is designed for flush or projecting mounting and includes short-circuiting devices for current measuring circuits. It is microprocessor-based, suitable for overcurrent and earth fault protection with directional functions.
General Specifications
The SSG relay is intended for protection against overloads, short circuits, and earth faults in various network configurations. It meets Enel DK5600 requirements and can be used for voltage control in load shedding and automatic repowering of transformers.
Measuring Inputs
The relay includes three-phase current inputs and one residual current input, with selectable nominal currents of 1A or 5A. It also has three-phase voltage inputs and one residual voltage input.
Breaker Failure
The breaker failure function can be associated with all SSG protection thresholds, ensuring reliable operation.
Logic Selectivity
All SSG relay protective functions can be blocked by logic selectivity binary input, enhancing the reliability of the protection system.
Trip Circuit Supervision (TCS)
The TCS function detects trip circuit anomalies, ensuring the integrity of protective devices.
Sequence of Events Logging
The relay records the last eight events upon tripping, including date, time, function activated, and status information.
Signal Recording
The relay has eight memory buffers for recording quantities over a 5.12-second interval with a 10 ms sampling rate.
Communication
The relay supports RS232 and RS485 communication interfaces using the MODBUS RTU protocol for local and remote monitoring.
Man Machine Interface (MMI)
The user interface includes a membrane keyboard, backlight LCD display, and LEDs for indicating power supply and trip status.
Inhibition
Protection functions can be inhibited for a programmable delay to prevent untimely trips during high transitory currents.
Output Relays
There are four double change-over contacts output relays, programmable for resting state and reset mode.
Programming and Settings
Relay programming can be performed via MMI or a PC using Thylink software. Most protection functions have three operating thresholds with definite or inverse time characteristics.
Binary Inputs
Binary inputs enable adaptive protection system configurations and support various ancillary functions like remote reset and bank switching.
Testing and Self-test
The relay includes test sequences and self-test functions to ensure circuit integrity and correct program flow.
Mechanical and Insulation Data
The relay is designed for flush or projecting mounting, with high voltage and impulse voltage withstand capabilities. It meets various EMC and safety standards.
Input and Output Circuits
The relay supports a range of input and output configurations, including auxiliary power supply, phase and residual current inputs, and output relays with specific nominal values and capacities.
Communication Interfaces
Local and network communication is facilitated through RS232 and RS485 interfaces, supporting MODBUS RTU protocol.
General Settings
Settings include nominal primary current and voltage values for phase and residual circuits, with programmable ranges.
Functions
The document details specific functions like undervoltage, phase overcurrent, residual overcurrent, residual overvoltage, live line monitoring, directional overcurrent, and directional ground fault, with specific pickup and time delay settings.

The relay measures all the phase and residual currents and voltages, making them available for reading on a display or to communication interfaces. Signals are sampled 20 times per period and optimum filtering is made through combined use of analog and digital filters. The overcurrent directional function makes use of a special criterion based on a phase lock loop algorithm: this feature allows the relay to correctly operate in the presence of a solid three-phase short circuit close to the measuring point, where the line voltage drops to zero. For want of open delta CT, the residual voltage can...
