Application:
Type L06 with normally closed contacts is used for overheating protection in electric equipment, requiring automatic resetting after cooling. Type L08 with normally open contacts is used to activate fans, warning lamps, or acoustic signals during overheating. Both types can be mounted on switch cupboards, heat sinks, or motor casings.

Design:
The switches feature a high power contact mechanism with a freely moving bimetallic disc, insulated from the current. A spring disc maintains contact pressure until the switching temperature is reached. The design includes an M4-screw and internal insulation, with welded lead wires for high temperature and current use.

Operation:
Upon reaching the rated switching temperature, the bimetallic disc snaps to open (L06) or close (L08) the contact. It resets after cooling below the resetting temperature.

Information 411 e Thermal Protectors Series 06 Types L06 / L08 Application: Thermal Protectors (TP) of series 06 - type L06 with normally closed contacts are utilised for overheating protection of all kinds of electric equipment or devices. After over-heating and subsequent cooling an automatic resetting is required. The type L08 with normally open contacts is utilised to start fans, warning lamps or acoustic signals in case of overheating. A mount-on housing allows to attach these types e.g. in switch cupboards, on heat sinks or on motor casings. Design: These switches are equipped with a high power contact mechanism, wherein the bimetallic disc can move freely, without the current flowing through it. An additional spring disc maintains constant contact pressure until reaching its switching temperature. The well-proven mechanism of Thermik’s types 06 and 08 are introduced into a housing with an M4-screw including an internal insulation between the switch and this screw-housing. The connecting lead wires are welded on, to ensure the use the switch at high temperature and strong currents without any problems. Screw / -length dimensions (average) Operation: If, in the case of overheating, the rated switching temperature of the bimetallic disc is reached, it suddenly snaps over to open the contact of type L06 or to close the contact of type L08. After cooling down beyond their resetting temperature, the bimetallic disc resets and causes the contact to reclose (type L06) or to re-open (type L08). .
