Product catalog summary
Specifications:
SA1 dimensions include a width of 10.8 mm, height of 5.1 mm, and length of 32.5 mm with an insulation cap. The high power switch models include CA1, SA1, and PA1.
Application:
The Thermal Protectors (TP) A1, which are normally closed, are primarily used in electrical appliances such as motors, transformers, and ballasts. They are designed for reliable detection of current and temperature, featuring a short tripping time and the ability to handle high current loads despite their compact design. The switch is impregnation resistant and available in various connection versions.
Design:
The switch features a new design with a high capacity contact mechanism. A current-flowed frame spring ensures necessary contact pressure, and the mechanism can be produced automatically at a capacity of 10 million pieces per year. The bimetal disc operates under optimal conditions without current flow through the material.
Versions:
Available with lead wires and insulation cap (SA1), without insulation cap (CA1), and with connecting pins (PA1).
Operation:
When the bimetallic disc reaches its rated switching temperature, it snaps open the contacts. Tripping behavior is influenced by the heating of the frame spring, thermal transfer, or a combination of both. The mechanism resets after cooling below its resetting temperature.
Features:
High power density allows for high currents in a small construction. Quick response sensitivity ensures switch-off in less than 20 seconds. Temperature resistance is achieved through high-temperature materials.
Technical Data A1:
Contact Type: Normally Closed (NC)
Nominal Switching Temperature (NST): 70°C – 160°C with a tolerance of ±5 K
Operating Voltage: 250 V AC
Rated Current: 37 A (3,000 cycles)
Max. Switching Current: 60 A at 250 VAC
Contact Resistance: < 50 mΩ
Insulation Cap: Mylar - Nomex®
Dielectric Strength: 2 kVrms
Connection Leads: Multi Strand Wire, 1.5 mm² / AWG 15
Approvals: IEC 60730-2-2, VDE according to DIN EN 60730-2-2
Tripping Time: ≤ 20 seconds, depending on various conditions.
Note: Technical specifications are subject to change without notice. Special designs are available upon inquiry.

The favourite use of the T hermal P rotectors (TP) A1 ( n ormally c losed) is in electrical appliances where a reliable detecting of current and temperature is indicated. These applications can be motors, transformers, ballasts and other electrical equipment. The switch excels with a typical short tripping time. The TP characterizes its ability to stand high current load in spite of a small design. Therefore the ALHA 1 is able to switch the current directly in a disturbed condition of the application. The switch is impregnation resistant and is available in different connecting versions. > The switch has been created with a totally new design. It is equipped with a high capacity contact mechanism, wherein a current flowed frame spring ensures the necessary contact pressure. The contact mechanism can be produces fully automatically with a max. capacity of 10 Million pieces/year. Due to changing of particular parameters during manufacturing a short tripping time is realized. The bimetal disc is working under perfect conditions because of no current flow through the material.
