Tetra Pak® Aseptic Tank VD

Product catalog summary
Application
The Tetra Pak® Aseptic Tank VD is designed for the intermediate storage of low-acid food products under aseptic conditions. It can be used as a standalone unit or integrated into UHT dairy product lines, ensuring guaranteed performance.
Working Principle
The tank is sterilized using steam at a minimum of 125°C, followed by cooling with water. Sterile air is introduced to prevent vacuum formation and maintain pressure. An optional agitator can be added for products prone to separation. A valve cluster manages product flow and cleaning processes, with a steam barrier to prevent contamination. The tank is cleaned using a central CIP system and is designed to be implosion-proof, complying with the European pressure vessel code.
Basic Module
The tank features a vertical design with a cylindrical cooling jacket, safety rail, and a load cell for content measurement. It includes a valve cluster module with pre-assembled valves and a control panel. The control system options are Allen-Bradley Logix or Siemens S7, with a touchscreen interface.
Materials and Specifications
The tank is made from AISI 304 stainless steel, with valves and pipes in AISI 316 stainless steel. It can withstand a maximum working pressure of 300 kPa (3.0 bar).
Optional Equipment
Options include an acid-proof inner container, steam-reducing valve set, various agitator types, multiple UHT unit inlets, and additional safety and operational features such as air compressors and sterile water flush systems.
Dimensions and Capacities
The tank is available in various capacities ranging from 7,000 to 50,000 litres, with corresponding dimensions and weights provided for each size.
Shipping Data
Shipping weights are provided for each tank size, ranging from 1,600 kg net weight for the 7,000-litre tank to 9,100 kg for the 50,000-litre tank.

Tetra Pak® Aseptic Tank VD-1

Tetra Pak® Aseptic Tank VD Application For intermediate storage of low-acid food products under aseptic conditions. This fully automated aseptic tank is available as a separate unit or as a component in our best-practice lines for UHT dairy products, with guaranteed performance. Working principle Tetra Pak ® Aseptic Tank VD is sterilised by steam at a minimum temperature of 125°C for a period of time. It is then cooled by water circulating through the cooling jacket. During cooling, sterile air is fed into the tank to prevent vacuum formation. During production, sterile air fills the tank space above the product level. The pressure is automatically controlled to maintain the feed pressure required by the filling machine in operation. As option, Tetra Pak Aseptic Tank VD can be equipped with an agitator. This is recommended for products, that can separate in the tank during storage (e.g. chocolate milk and juice with fibres) and to even out the product temperature. A valve cluster module with control panel directs product flow, sterile air, cleaning liquids and steam. During production a steam barrier (110°C) is applied to protect the product from contamina-tion. After the filling machines, the end valve cluster prevents reinfection. The tank is cleaned in place by a central CIP system. Since tank operation includes high-temperature sterilization followed by cooling, the tank is designed to be completely implosion-proof. The tank is manufactured in accordance with the European pressure vessel code (PED), but can be manufactured to comply with other codes on request. One of the three stainless legs is equipped with a load cell which measures the content of the tank and shows the reading on the panel. Tank operation is fully automated and production interlocks are included for safety reasons. The operator only has to initiate the process steps: tank sterilization, production and CIP. The tank is operated from its own programmable control in the control panel
