IntroductionThe Schmidt Roll
Hardness Tester is designed to measure the hardness of large rolls of paper, film, and foil. It provides quick, accurate, and non-destructive hardness profiles to ensure efficient printing. The tester helps identify rolls that are too hard, too soft, unevenly wound, or have varying moisture content, which can cause printing issues. It is often used alongside the Smith Roll Tightness Tester for a comprehensive roll property profile.
PrincipleThe tester operates on the rebound measurement principle. The impact plunger is pressed against the roll, compressing a spring. Upon release, a hammer mass strikes the plunger, and the rebound is measured on a scale from 10 to 100. Testing intervals of 2" to 4" across the roll width provide a hardness profile quickly. The process is non-destructive, leaving only light marks on the top layers.
ApplicationsThis tester is applicable in industries dealing with paper, film, foil, printing, and graphic arts.
FeaturesThe device is self-contained, lightweight, portable, and provides quick readings. It comes with a carrying case for safe and easy transport.
