Teijin Aramid transmission belts leaflet-1

Longer-lasting transmission belts Transmission developments With the trend towards higher-power transmissions, engine components need to be able to withstand increasingly demanding operating conditions – and transmission belts are no exception. Metal chains are increasingly being replaced by rubber belts to achieve lower CO2 emissions. Loading transmission in the agricultural industry is another growth area, requiring more effective reinforcement. Improving the quality of the rubber and reducing the noise level are also key challenges. Our research and development activities have already enhanced durability to the point where a transmission belt can last for the entire lifetime of an engine. Key benefits when using our aramid • Stronger • More energy-efficient • Maintenance-free • Better synchronized • More flexible • Less noise

V-belts Thanks to their high strength-to-weight ratio, Twaron and Technora para-aramid yarns are extremely suitable for high-power transmission and high-speed applications, making them ideal for reinforcing high-power V-belts and V-ribbed belts. And, if the rubber is enhanced with Sulfron– our chemically-modified rubber additive – the belts will last even longer. Timing belts Because Twaron para-aramid yarn has very low levels of elastic deformation, it does not stretch under tension. This ensures precise synchronization in drive engine components when timing belts are reinforced with Twaron....
