The Off-the-road (OTR) tire market is experiencing high demand due to the booming mining industry, increased food demand, and numerous construction projects in developing regions. This demand has led to shortages, emphasizing the need for durable and retreadable OTR tires. Twaron, a high-performance aramid fiber by Teijin Aramid, is addressing these needs by providing tougher and longer-lasting tire solutions.

Twaron anti-puncture belts are used in bias forestry tires and can replace multiple layers of polyamide (PA 6.6) reinforcement in the carcass. In agricultural radials, Twaron reduces the number of reinforcement layers from up to six to two or three, offering benefits such as reduced material needs, lower production costs, enhanced puncture resistance, reduced fuel consumption, and flexible footprint for lower air pressure in swampy areas.

Twaron cords can replace upper layers of steel-cord belt reinforcements, providing protection against cuts and punctures without the risk of corrosion. This substitution reduces the need for extra rubber, decreases production costs, minimizes heat build-up, and lowers overall tire weight, leading to reduced fuel consumption.

Twaron's superior strength-to-weight ratio makes it ideal for reinforcing high-performance tires across various applications, including passenger cars, motorcycles, aircraft, bicycles, and OTR tires.
