This insures that the oil supply can quickly be turned off, for example when cleaning the filter (use heating oil for this) or during boiler servicing.The OFV's are fitted with cleanable nylon filters to trap coarse particles; this is important because even the smallest particle of dirt or rust can permanently damage the boilers oil pump and / or block the very fine oil atomising jet.
