No Service or Maintenance Required Virtually Application The GBR is a state of the art remote control system for gas fires. It is only available to appliance manufacturers, who will need to obtain regulatory certification of their appliance, with the GBR fitted. The GBR is certified under EC/03/024. Physical Description The GBR consists of four component parts: A Solenoid Operated Gas Valve A Battery Holder An Electronic Control Module A Remote Control Unit Normally, initial configuration of the GBR to a new appliance is carried out as follows: The appliance manufacturer makes a sample appliance available to the Teddington Engineering Design team. The GBR is fitted to the appliance, and the combined equipment tested for reliable operation. Operation Operation of the GBR is straightforward. With the fire installed, and batteries fitted to the battery box and the remote control unit, turn on the gas supply. Press the Ignition buttons on the Remote Control Unit. The fire will beep in acknowledgement, and the fire will light in full power mode. The GBR system allows four settings of heat output and the actual selection is made from the Remote Control Unit. Single presses of the appropriate button activate selection of high or low settings. To select the 'Medium High' setting, press the 'High' button twice. To select 'Medium Low' setting, press the 'Low' button twice. To switch off the fire, press 'Turn Fire Off' once. The GBR has a sophisticated fault reporting system, which provides tone codes in response to key presses on the Remote Control Unit. This is explained fully in the User Guide, provided with each unit. Battery Considerations The team leader will liaise with the appliance The unit will operate at its optimum with alkaline manufacturer, to ensure that the appliance assembly can batteries, and these should be fitted by preference.
