Operation Application The CSV is a range of electrically operated gas shut-off valves, having a higher capacity than the SOV, designed for use on appliances such as catering cookers, hobunits and domestic gas fires. Physical Description The CSV consists of an aluminium valve body, and solenoid. Single valve bodies are available in either straight through or right angle connector configurations, on either the 7.5kW or 12kW types. Mains voltage coils are resin encapsulated giving an IP65 rating. Multi-valve bodies tailored to customer requirements. The valves are not serviceable. The CSV is an electrically operated shut off valve. Inside the solenoid there is coil of wire, usually cylindrical, in which a magnetic field is created by passing an electric current through it. This field is used to move an iron rod placed on its axis at the centre of the coil. When the solenoid is attached to the valve body the rod can be operated by switching the current on or off, so converting electrical energy into mechanical energy. This moves the rod in and out opening and shutting the valve.
